230Volt_Karte_4 - PC board for AC voltage switching ( 230V )
With the 230V board you are able to switch supply voltages potential free from your PC. The card can be orderd with 2 or 8 semiconductor relays, which are able to switch inductive, capacitive or other loads with a high inverse current during the zero voltage crossing. According to the customers usage therefore you need to protect the board. With a pure resistance load the board (i.e. lamp, heater) can be used without any additional protection. Don't hesitate to contact us and ask for more details.

This ad converter board offers sixteen analog inputs (with 12 Bit resolution) and eight digital inputs and outputs. It is possible to measure 4 channels at the same time, because channel 0-3 are equipped with a S&H (Sample and Hold) "analog-memory".

The trigger of the S&H memory can be driven with software or externally by hardware.

The reliable and budget priced Clock77 radio clock supplies the atomclock exact time over the ISA bus. A switching from and to summer time is not nescessary.

The accuracy of the radio clock's time is +/- 50 ms. Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT 4.x / 2000 / XP drivers (server and workstation) are available. For Windows XP / 2000 / NT 4.x the Clock77 software is executed as "NT service".

CLOCK77/Verst - Amplifier for PC-radioclocks Clock77/PCI and Clock77/ISA
The QUANCOM® Clock77 amplifier allows cable lenghts up to 100 metres between the computer and the antenna. The CLOCK-77/Verst can be used for the PCI Atom Clock Receiver and the ISA Atom Clock Receiver.

The Clock77 cards are receivers for the long wave DCF77 signal located in Braunschweig / Germany. The signal is transmitted by the "Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt" (short PTB http://www.ptb.de ) at a frequency of 77,5 kHz. The transmitter location is around 25 km in the south-east of Frankfurt am Main ( Mainflingen ) and the maximum covered range is up to 2000 km distance from Frankfurt. For safety purposes the time signal is generated by 3 independend atom clocks.

GPIB-1 - IEEE-488.2 Card with NEC 7210 compatible controller
The QUANCOM GPIB card is used to connect devices with the wide-spread IEEE-488.2 interface to the PC. The interrupts 2,3,4,5,6,7 and DMA 1,2,3 are available. This gpib board has been sold more than 1000 times and it is the standard and cost effective solution for measurement with the IEEE-488 devices. This GPIB board uses the Standard NEC 7210 register settings and is therefore compatible with all significant applications and operating systems.

Therefore internet downloadable programs or source code, for example, can be used. The card can be connected to the PC with up to 15 peripheral devices having IEEE488 interfaces. All settings are adjusted by means of jumpers. The data exchange is controlled by an intellegent uPD7210 controller from NEC. Therefore, the card's function is compatible with almost all IEEE driver programs.

The board is supported by the QLIB ( QUANCOM Driver Library ) and therefore programmable with most modern compilers and interpreters.

You need no knowledge in the driver development.

An application that uses our GPIB Card, which is generated for Windows 98 can be used directly on a Windows XP PC.

With the QLIB it is easy to create applications with Visual-Basic, Visual-C/C++, Borland Delphi, LabWindows/CVI or other modern compilers. Even an interface to MS Excel, MS Access, HP VEE ( 3.1, 4.0 and 5.0 ) and even NI LabVIEW 4.0 thru LabVIEW 6.i is available. We included the VB GPIB Sample which shows how to program and test the card and it also includes the source code. This is a good starting point for your own applications.

The QLIB is a API which provides it's functions through a Windows DLL, so it is possible to use QLIB with all applications that allow access to external DLL Functions.

The following functions are available for the control of GPIB devices:
• Reading devices • Writing devices • Reading the status of the SRQ line ( The SRQ line is used by HPIB devices to interrupt the Active Controller, which then performs a Serial Poll or Parallel Poll to determine which device requested service, and why. The poll clears the SRQ. ) • Controlling Remote / Local Mode • Polling the status byte ( In a serial poll, the Active Controller asks each device in turn to send back a status byte that indicates whether the device has asserted the SRQ. ) • Supported commands ( GTL = Goto Local, SDC = Selected Device Clear, GET = Group Execute Trigger, LLO = Local Lockout, DCL = Device Clear, Serial Poll Enable, Serial Poll Disable, UNL = Unlisten, UNT = Untalk )

ISA-EXT - ISA Bus Extender card (16bit)
This high quality ISA extender card was developed to allow the testing of ISA slot cards. Hereby, it is possible to remove the tested ISA board while the computer is running. The upper ISA slot is easily exchangeable, separately orderable and reduces costs in large scale production and testing. The ISA-EXT allows an easy check of prototype boards and other ISA boards.

How to use the board ?
Before you remove the ISA slot card, switch the power on the ISA extender card off. This shuts down the tested board power lines and signals from the pc bus. Remove the board and insert a different one. Switch the power on again. The board gets a reset and all lines power up in a safe way.

General description
To reduce the time for comfortable testing of PC cards we decided to develop the ISA Extender card. A master switch on one side of the extender card switches all ISA-Bus signals and voltages. This is required to allow hotplugging of the tested ISA cards. This method allows the inserting and removing of ISA cards without rebooting and destroying the PC.All operating voltages are protected by easy exchangable fuses. The ISA-Extender can be configured with a DIP switch. With the DIP switch you can select which type of signals will be passed through to the upper slot of the ISA Extender. This feature will help you to find errors in cards that contain short circuited data or address signals. All operating voltages are available at the 9-pin D-Sub connector. The connector allows the operation of external devices that need a additional power supply. All standard ISA slot voltages are available at this connector. To reset the ISA board under test condition simply press the reset button on the ISA-Extender board. This acitvates the ISA slot reset signal and resets the hardware on you ISA card. Secondly the reset signal is generated by powering the PC off an on.

Highlights
The ISA extender card allows an inserting and removing of ISA cards while the computer is switched on (hot swapping). Since the lifetime of any electrical connector is limited, we made the upper ISA slot seperately deliverable and exchangeable. The costs in large scale production and testing are reduced dramatically, due to the fact that only the upper ISA slot, when worn out, needs to be replaced and not the whole ISA Extender. This is the reason why many companies are using our ISA extender card in the mass production. If the upper ISA bus connector is worn out, just replace it with a new one.

The industry OPTOLCA board has 16 inputs and 16 outputs. All lines are protected by optocouplers. This ensures protection for your personal computer in heavy electrically polluted environment. All 16 inputs are equiped with input flipflops which detect quick input state changes or remove switch bounce. The board has a configurable onboard timeout control which detects all writes to the OPTOLCA hardware. If the software hangs and the board isn't controlled by the personal computer the outputs are switched off.

The OPTOREL16 relay card has 16 relays to switch low voltage circuits. The card also has 16 opto coupled inputs with an input range from 12 to 30V. Lower input voltages of the opto coupler inputs can be realised by exchange of pre-resistors. The relays are protected by a timeout function which disables all outputs after a specified time in which the card wasn't accessed.

PAR48IO - Parallel TTL-I/O module with 16 bit counter
The PAR48 I/O parallel port module is an industry quality module. The module has 48 I/O lines where the data direction (input / output) is configurable in blocks of up to 8 lines. The board has an onboard latch. This allows you to change some of the output lines and output all 48 of them syncronously with a software command. You may also latch the input lines and read the state of all lines at the same time. The onboard 16 bit counter is also readable in latched mode. This assures no pulses are missing. The counter has an clk and gate input.

For setting different power sources for A/D cards, the PARIW4 is the ideal module. It is suited for measure ranges up to +/- 10 V with a maximal power consume of 100 mA.

PARPT100 - PT100 / Voltage converter
PT100 temperature sensors are common used because of their easy use and their large measurement range. Because of their nearly linear temperature/resistance curve they can be easily and quickly be used for nearly any temperature measurement. Their only disadvantage is that the resistance cannot be measured directly with any A/D-card. As for this we developed the PARPT100 module, which allows you to use PT100 temperature sensors without any disadvantages. With support from the QLIB, the QUANCOM driver library, you simply can measure and calculate the corresponding temperature. Of course this only works with QUANCOM A/D-cards. The power supply for this module may vary from 8 to 24V which is rather enough for nearly any given power supply.

PARVOP - Terminal block for QUANCOM optocoupler boards
The PARVOP module allows the comfortable connecting of external devices to the OPTOMOS-1, OPTOLCA/LC, OPTOLA and POPTOLCA boards. Additionally a visible function control by the LED ( Light emitting diodes ) is possible. The 1:1 cable ( 37 pin. D-SUB ) connects the module with the Optocoupler board. The screw clamps are connected with an 8 pin block which separates the return line and an additional power supply from the output.

PCI-DEC2 - PCI-Decoder Chip TQPF-208

Dieser QUANCOM® PCI-Dekoder im TQFP-208 Gehäuse ermöglicht einen schnellen und unkomplizierten Aufbau einer PCI-Karte. The PCI extender card allows a safe insertion and removal of PCI cards while the computer is switched on (hot swapping). The upper PCI slot is easily exchangeable, separately orderable and reduces costs in large scale production and testing.
How to use the board ? Before you remove the PCI slot card, switch the power on the PCI extender card off. This shuts down the tested board power lines and signals from the pc bus. Remove the board and insert a different one. Switch the power on again. The board gets a reset and all lines power up in a safe way.

All operating voltages and eight more control signals are available on a 37-pin D-Sub connector. A temperature sensor which is located on the card enables a control of automated test procedures. An additional button generates a reset signal on the upper slot. The reset will further on be produced when the PC is turned on or off, as well as from the CPU.
The settings, assigned by the CPU in the cards configuration header when the PC is booted are lost when a card is exchanged. For this reason, the software "PCISETIO" is included in the scope of supply. This software enables the I/O-Address to be set after the PC is turned on again. PCIAD16DAC4 - PCI A/D card with 16 channels (16 bit) + 4 D/A channels (12 Bit)
This professional card offers 16 analog input channels with 16 bit resolution and 4 D/A output channels with 12 bit resolution. The card has a typical sample time of 25us (A/D) with the following unipolar / bipolar measuring range: +10V, +5V, +2.5, 0..10V, 0..5V and 0..2.5 Volt. Additionally a low-pass-filter for bandwidth limitation can be adjusted by a jumper. The C-MOS A/D-converter has an S&H (sample and hold) -input and in four different precision levels with 11, 12, 15 and 16-bit. PCIADTEMP - 16 Bit PCI AD converter with progr. Gain Amplifier
The new small signal measuring card "PCIADTEMP" is particularly suitable for temperature sensors or arranging couplerdiodes, because it exhibits only smallest deviations at the measurements. The "PCIADTEMP" is equipped with a 16-Bit A/D transducer (ADS 7807) and a programmable pre amplifier (PGA 204).The measuring range of the A/D transducer becomes with Jumper on ±10 and/or 0...5 V fixed. The PGA preamplification can after bit design A0/A1 to 1,10,100 or 1000-fold programmed. An upstream Buffer measuring amplifier works with a firm GAIN of 2, from which itself a measuring voltage range of ±5 resp. 0... 2.5 V results in. Because of this still smallest tensions of NiCr Nithermocouples and others sensors with ±5 mV resp. 0... 2.5 mVs (full rank) can be messed very precisely.

PCIDAC416 - PCI D/A-board with 4 channel D/A-conversion (16 Bit)
This professional board has a 4 channel D/A converter, wich has a resolution of 16 Bit. As a D/A board only, this board has excelent properties. Each of the 4 D/A channels may be setup by jumper to 2.5V, 5V, 10V maximum output value separatly. With the Burr-Brown REF1004i high precision reference voltage the generated output voltage has a high linearity and high stability with high precision. The Burr-Brown D/A converter DAC7644 is a pure 16 Bit D/A converter which is programmed with 4 16 Bit registers and one latch-DAC and one reset-register each. Each channel has it's own sensing input to montior the final output voltage at the point where it is needed.
During initialisation of the PC (reset or power on) the auto reset-circuit prevents unwanted output voltage at the D/A outputs.

PCIPROTO - PCI Prototype Card with PCI Decoder chip
The PCIPROTO card is especially useful for the development of PCI prototype boards. The board is supported by the QLIB (QUANCOM Driver Library), and therefore allows an easy programming under Windows XP, 2000, NT 4.0, 95, 3.11, HP-Vee and LabView. PCITTL32IO - QUANCOM® PCI 32 Bit TTL I/O Card
The QUANCOM® PCITTL32IO TTL Card has 32 I/O lines and is especially useful for the development and prototyping.
Inputs and Outputs The 32 I/O lines kann be programmed as inputs or outputs in blocks of 8 lines. When powering up all lines are set to input type and are passive.
Memory vs. I/O Mode The I/O mode and the memory mode mode can be selected with a jumper setting. Generally the memory mode is the faster and therefore the preferred mode. The I/O mode can be considered as obsolete, as it is slower and slowes down the system due to the fact that it generates wait states.
Use of Interrupts You can define one of the inputs 0 to 15 as interrupt source. A raising and/or falling edge of the input signal can generate an interrupt. This interupt can be routed to a subroutine inside your C or C++ program if the compiler supportes multithreading and pointers. There is a sample in Visual-C/C++ which shows how to incorporate interrupts in your program. Inside C/C++ programs (running in the usermode) up to 3000 interrupts per second are possible. One advantage of interrupts is that you don't need to poll the hardware and this lowers the system load.
Line Drivers replaceable (Sockets) The line drivers chips are placed on sockets so that they can be replaced easily in case of defects.
External circuits and voltage at the D-Sub Connector The external 37-pin. D-Sub Connector has a +5V voltages pin which can be used to supply external circuits with power. Easily connect your external lines with PAR-KL-37 cable clamp.

The QLIB simplifies the access of the hardware registers because it allows you to use QLIB commands. The PCITTL32IO card can be accessed via traditional I/O or with a memory pointer to the hardware registers. The memory pointer is valid within the usermode application. This safes a significant amount of processor time because there is no underlying library function call to the kernel driver is required. Although the use of this feature is only for very fast applications required.

PCITTL64IO - QUANCOM® PCI 64 Bit TTL I/O Card

Use of Multiple-Cards You can chose with the dip-switch a moduladdress between 0-7. With this dip-switch you are able to use 8 PCITTL64IO cards simultaneity.
Use of Interrupts You can define one of the inputs 32 to 63 as interrupt source. A raising and/or falling edge of the input signal can generate an interrupt. This means, that a falling edge on port 47 or a rising edge on port 57 can generate an interrupt. This interupt can be routed to a subroutine inside your C or C++ program if the compiler supportes multithreading and pointers. PCIWDOG3 - PC Watchdog for Linux Windows XP / 2000 / 98 / ME
The intelligent PC Watchdog card monitors a PC for software or hardware lock-ups to ensure 24/7 system availability. If the system crahes or hangs it will be restarted by the watchdog. This new watchdog is also able to inform the support staff if there is a problem, which makes it impossible for the watchdog to restart the system. This Watchdog provides a solution for Telecom, ISPs, Webservers, Voice Mail, File Servers, and Industrial systems that occasionally lock up but must be available on a continuous basis and where the support staff has to be informed immediatly about any problem. The Watchdog can detect the current system state ( reboot, crash, healthy, ... ), incoming SMS Messages and the nine optocoupler protected inputs, and can use them to trigger actions like restarting or powering off the computer, switching relays or the buzzer, sending messages or launching applications.
Watchdog Configuration Wizard
The PCIWDOG3 Watchdog is fully configurable with the Watchdog Configuration Wizard. This wizard allows you to customize the behaviour of the watchdog. After the configuration wizard has finished all settings can be stored in the nonvolatile memory of the PCIWDOG3 Card or in a configuration file.
Software Shutdown Feature
If the watchdog detects a software failure it can start a software shutdown which is the same as if the user would select Start->Shut Down from the Windows Start Menu. Because it can't be assured that the system can be restarted with a software shutdown this process is protected by the internal hardware watchdog timer. The timeout between Software Shutdown and Hardware Reset can be configured with the PCIWDOG3 Watchdog Wizard. The software shutdown can be cancelled by pressing an abort button.
E-Mail and SMS Notification
Nearly every event can be detected and trigger the sending of a SMS* or e-mail Messages. I.e. it is possible to inform the support staff that the system is crashed via SMS or that the system is up again via email. Even if door of the server room or the case of the server is opened the watchdog can inform you with a appropriate messages. If you need the SMS Message Function you have to purchase the GSMEXT1/EU Modem for the european market. The GSM Modem has qualified for a (24/7) long-term use.
WDSERV Watchdog Background Service
For Microsoft Windows NT 4.x / 2000 / XP / Server 2003, an additional NT service (WDSERV.EXE) is supplied which works as a background process. The WDSERV is an watchdog software addon for machines that require 24 h availability. The WDSERV Service executes the nescessary accesses on the QUANCOM watchdog in the background. It controls the sending of e-mail messages and the launch of applications. Additionally the WDSERV copies the internal watchdog log to the Windows Eventlog. After a system crash, the system will be rebooted automatically. The program works totally in the background, so nobody has to be logged on at the machine.
Hardware Considerations
The watchdog supports mainboards with reset switch and without reset switch. For mainboards without a reset switch the ATX Reset Cable that can be connected between the motherboard and the cable from the ATX power supply, can be used. It allows a PC to be reset by momentarily removing the Power Good signal from the power supply to the motherboard.

Software Drivers and Samples
We designed a board that is a Plug & Play compatible PCI watchdog card. The cards are equipped with drivers for the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003. There are sample projects ( sources ) for the main compilers and interpreters i.e. Microsoft .NET, Visual-C++, Visual-Basic, Borland Delphi, Borland Builder, Sun Java and even MS Excel or MS Access are supported.

The PCIWDOG3 Watchdog is supported by the QLIB (QUANCOM Driver Library), and therefore allows an easy programming under various operating systems. To support developers we included a driver installation toolkit for OEM manufacturers or software developers.
In the scope of delivery there are many useful software applications and libraries. The software to use depends on the used operating system or your application. To access the hardware following possibilities exist :
• Method 1: WDSERV - Standalone Solution for 24/7 Windows XP / 2000 / Server 2003 / NT Systems ( this software is running as background service )
• Method 2:Install the QLIB for use with existing software ( i.e. Sitekiosk Kiosk Browser Software )
• Method 3:High-Level Programming ( Visual-Basic, Visual-C++, Borland Delphi, Borland C++, ...) with the QLIB, that provides a common API to the programmers.
• Method 4:Direct I/O - Access the hardware registers directly, all operating systems, recommended only for professional programmers
• Method 5:LINUX Drivers, Daemon and Source Files in preparation


Method 1 is the preferred method if the complete system is to be monitored and the operating system is Windows NT4.x or Windows 2000 / XP / Server 2003. The WDSERV monitors the system and programs the Watchdog in the background and no user needs to be logged on.

Method 2 allows you to make the QUANCOM watchdog running with existing software. I.e. the Sitekiosk Kiosk Browser Software. Sitekiosk offers you an almost infinite number of possibilities to configure your Internet terminal according to your needs. It offers you all the functions to operate a secure terminal. Because of some software problems and the possibility of a BSOD ( blue screen of death ) the manufacturer protects the terminal software with an optional hardware watchdog plugin.

With Method 3 you can integrate the watchdog in your own application. To do this in Visual-C, Visual-Basic, Delphi or any other compiler or interpreter, first install the QLIB. Then copy the file QLIB.H, QLIB.BAS or QLIB.PAS to your source project files. These files belong to the QLIB and you find them in the "include" directory of the QLIB Installation. If you are using compilers like Visual-C or Borland Delphi you have to add the library file QLIB32.LIB to your project. The compiler needs this file to find the references to the QLIB32.DLL, which holds the programming API. Interpreters like Visual-Basic don't need this library. Now the programmer can use the API functions QAPIWatchdogEnable() to activate the watchdog, QAPIWatchdogDisable() to disable it, and QAPIWatchdogRetrigger() to reset the internal watchdog timer. When you start your application activate the watchdog with QAPIWatchdogEnable(). While the program is running, continously call the function QAPIWatchdogRetrigger().This signals the watchdog that the application is alive. When the application crashes it can't call the function and the watchdog restarts the system. Before terminating your application, call the function QAPIWatchdogDisable() to shut down the watchdog.

If you use Method 4 you need the sources for the application. You have to access the hardware registers directly with i/o commands and you are responsible to add the programming statements in the application. For using this method knowledge in programming drivers is necessary. See the documentation for a complete discussion of the hardware registers.

Method 5 is used on Linux systems. There is a Linux Driver and a Watchdog Daemon download below and the sources for these programs are included. This allows recompiling the sources when the linux version changes. You may also incorperate the linux functions from the watchdog daemon to your linux application. The daemon is a program that opens the watchdog driver as a file "dev/watchdog" and then continously writes a char to driver. This resets the internal watchdog timer of the watchdog hardware. The Linux Software Drivers are in preparation.



PDAC4 - PCI D/A card with 4 channels (12 bit)
The PDAC4 was trimmed by laser. Therefore, an adjusting of the D/A converter is not needed. The four D/A channels are chargeable with up to +/- 5 mA and each programmable between +10 V and -10 V.

POPTOLCA - PCI opto card (16 in + 16 out) with IRQ on input state change
The Board is also available as POPTOREL16 with 16 Digital Inputs and 16 Relays The industry POPTOLCA opto board has 16 inputs and 16 outputs. All lines are protected by optocouplers. All 16 inputs are equiped with input flipflops which detect quick input state changes or remove switch bounce. The board has a configurable onboard timeout control which detects all writes to the POPTOLCA hardware. If the software hangs and the board isn't controlled by the personal computer the outputs are switched off. This feature can be switched off by a software command.

With the QLIB it is easy to create applications with Visual-Basic, Visual-C, Borland Delphi or other modern compilers. Even an interface to MS Excel or MS Access is available. We included the VB POPTOLCA Sample which shows how to program and test the card and it also includes the source code. This is a good starting point for your own applications.

The QLIB is a API which provides it's functions through a Windows DLL, so it is possible to use QLIB with all applications that allow access to external DLL Functions.

POPTOLCA/LC - PCI opto card (16 in + 16 out)
The industry standard POPTOLCA/LC board has 16 inputs and 16 outputs. All lines are protected by optocouplers. This ensures protection for your personal computer in heavy electrically polluted environment. All 16 inputs are equiped with input flipflops which detect quick input state changes or remove switch bounce.

PWDOG1 - PCI Watchdog for Windows XP, 2000, NT, 98, Linux Kernel
The reliable PC Watchdog technology by QUANCOM® is now also available for the PCI bus. The Watchdog card monitors a PC for software or hardware lock-ups to ensure 24/7 system availability. It provides a solution for Telecom, ISPs, Webservers, Voice Mail, File Servers, and Industrial systems that occasionally lock up but must be available on a continuous basis. We designed a board that is a Plug & Play compatible PCI watchdog card.

The cards are equipped with drivers for the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows NT 4.x, Microsoft Windows 95/98, Microsoft Windows 3.1, DOS and Linux. There are sample projects ( sources ) for the main compilers and interpreters i.e. Visual-C++, Visual-Basic, Borland Delphi, LabView, LabWindows, Sun Java and even MS Excel or MS Access are supported.

For Microsoft Windows NT 4.x / 2000 / XP, an additional NT service (WDSERV.EXE) is supplied which works as a background process. The WDSERV is a watchdog software addon for machines that require 24 h availability. The WDSERV NT 4.x and Windows 2000 service executes the nescessary accesses on the QUANCOM watchdog in the background. After a system crash, the system will be rebooted automatically. The program works totally in the background, so nobody has to be logged on at the machine.

The Watchdogs are supported by the QLIB (QUANCOM Driver Library), and therefore allows an easy programming under various operating systems. To support developers we included a driver installation toolkit for OEM manufacturers or software developers. The sources and executable for the Linux backgound program are included on the CD-Rom.

For PC Motherboards that doesn't have a reset pin on the board, you can select the PWDOG2N, the ISA Watchdog 2 or the USB Watchdog 2. These watchdogs support the ATX Adapter Cable that can be connected between the motherboard and the cable from the ATX power supply. It allows a PC to be reset by momentarily removing the Power Good signal from the power supply to the motherboard.
In the scope of delivery there are many useful software applications and libraries. The software to use depends on the used operating system or your application. To access the hardware following possibilities exist :
• Method 1: WDSERV - Standalone Solution for 24/7 Windows XP / 2000 / Server 2003 / Windows NT Systems ( this software is running as background service )
• Method 2:Install the QLIB for use with existing software ( i.e. Sitekiosk Kiosk Browser Software )
• Method 3:High-Level Programming ( Visual-Basic, Visual-C++, Borland Delphi, Borland C++, ...) with the QLIB, that provides a common API to the programmers.
• Method 4:Direct I/O - Access the hardware registers directly, all operating systems, recommended only for professional programmers
• Method 5:LINUX Drivers, Daemon and Source Files included, QUANCOM URL Checker for the Apache Webserver.
• Method 6:DOS Standalone program ( Watchdog.exe - TSR DOS program - )

Method 1 is the preferred method if the complete system is to be monitored and the operating system is Windows NT4.x or Windows 2000. The WDSERV monitors the system and programs the Watchdog in the background and no user needs to be logged on.

Method 2 allows you to make the QUANCOM watchdog running with existing software. I.e. the Sitekiosk Kiosk Browser Software. Sitekiosk offers you an almost infinite number of possibilities to configure your Internet terminal according to your needs. It offers you all the functions to operate a secure terminal. Because of some software problems and the possibility of a BSOD ( blue screen of death ) the manufacturer protects the terminal software with an optional hardware watchdog plugin.

With Method 3 you can integrate the watchdog in your own application. To do this in Visual-C, Visual-Basic, Delphi, LabWindows/CVI or any other compiler or interpreter, first install the QLIB. Then copy the file QLIB.H, QLIB.BAS or QLIB.PAS to your source project files. These files belong to the QLIB and you find them in the "include" directory of the QLIB Installation. If you are using compilers like Visual-C or Borland Delphi you have to add the library file QLIB32.LIB to your project. The compiler needs this file to find the references to the QLIB32.DLL, which holds the programming API. Interpreters like Visual-Basic don't need this library. Now the programmer can use the API functions QAPIWatchdogEnable() to activate the watchdog, QAPIWatchdogDisable() to disable it, and QAPIWatchdogRetrigger() to reset the internal watchdog timer. When you start your application activate the watchdog with QAPIWatchdogEnable(). While the program is running, continously call the function QAPIWatchdogRetrigger(). This signals the watchdog that the application is alive. When the application crashes it can't call the function and the watchdog restarts the system. Before terminating your application, call the function QAPIWatchdogDisable() to shut down the watchdog.

If you use Method 4 you need the sources for the application. You have to access the hardware registers directly with i/o commands and you are responsible to add the programming statements in the application. For using this method knowledge in programming drivers is necessary. See the documentation for a complete discussion of the hardware registers.

Method 5 is used on Linux systems. There is a Linux Driver and a Watchdog Daemon download below and the sources for these programs are included. This allows recompiling the sources when the linux version changes. You may also incorperate the linux functions from the watchdog daemon to your linux application. The daemon is a program that opens the watchdog driver as a file "dev/watchdog" and then continously writes a char to driver. This resets the internal watchdog timer of the watchdog hardware. Secondly we provide the Webserver URL Checker Application that can check multiple Webservers. It sends a http request to the server, recognizes the received pattern of the "http" response and restarts the system on failure.

Method 6 is used for DOS and Windows 3.x operating systems. It is a watchdog TSR program for DOS systems and has the same functionality like the NT Service WDSERV.

This revolution sensor sends generates a signal which is proportional to the revolutions counted. It consists in a magnetic sensor element, a bipolar integrated circuit and a magnetic ferritcore. The sensor is resistant against high temperatures and vibrations and it is also wear-resistant.

TIMER9 - PC ISA TIMER CARD with 9x16-bit timers(8253)+6 opto in+4 TTL out
This high quality 8253 timercard offers 9 independent timer channels. Additionally, the signals TTL, OPTO-IN or GATE are also available. You may interconnect the 8253 timers, the TTL counter outputs, the GATE pins of the counter or the OPTO-IN inputs through a jumperfield on the card. The following functions are available for the control of GPIB devices:
• Reading devices • Writing devices • Reading the status of the SRQ line ( The SRQ line is used by HPIB devices to interrupt the Active Controller, which then performs a Serial Poll or Parallel Poll to determine which device requested service, and why. For PC Motherboards which don't have a reset header on the motherboard, the QUANCOM® WDOG-ATX-Kab1 can be used in conjunction with the PWDOG2N - PCI Watchdog, the ISA PC Watchdog 2 and the new Internal USB Watchdog 2 or the External USB Watchdog 3. This adaptor can also be used to reset a PC if your cabinet has a reset switch, but the motherboard does not have a reset header.
